Experienced Secondary school teacher with Senior Management experience within leading Independent and State Schools
Member since June 2026
I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a proven track record of achieving record breaking results at Geography GCSE, A-Level and 11 + exams. I have worked at all levels within a range of leading Independent and State schools for the past 21 years. My roles have included classroom teacher, Head of Department, Head of Year and Deputy Head. In addition, I work as an examiner for various exam boards. With regards to secondary school students, over the past twenty years I have assisted GCSE students gain top grades and 6th Form students gain entry to their first-choice university, including top Russell Group Universities. In relation to primary school students, I have proven techniques to develop their literacy and mathematical skills, which have enabled them to gain entry to their first- choice grammar school. I am able to adapt my teaching methods to suit a wide range of abilities and ensure students remain engaged and enthused by implementing innovative teaching methods. During school holidays I deliver one-week long intense booster revision sessions to 11 + students. These have proven extremely successful, (especially during the Easter and Summer holidays), in assisting students gain entry to their first-choice grammar school within Gloucestershire. During my career I have achieved record breaking results through a relentless drive to stretch students, whilst ensuring that they are thoroughly enjoying their learning. My approach to tutoring involves the use of innovative and varied, interactive activities, utilising ICT in a highly effective manner, whilst embedding crucial exam technique within each session. I use humour to engage students, and make them feel at ease, which enables them to fulfil their potential. Students always comment that they enjoy their tutor sessions and make huge developments in relation to their subject knowledge and skill-set within a relatively short period of time. I always ensure students refine their exam technique through past exam paper practice.

Andrew Jackson has experience supporting learners with special educational needs.
With 21 years of teaching experience, I bring a calm, structured, and highly adaptive approach to supporting SEN learners. Every session is designed to remove barriers, build confidence, and help each child learn in a way that feels natural, achievable, and empowering. I take time to understand each learner’s strengths, challenges, and preferred learning style. This allows me to tailor every activity — whether it’s reading, writing, maths, or exam preparation — so that it is accessible, engaging, and broken down into clear, manageable steps. I use a combination of visual supports, scaffolded tasks, repetition, and multi‑sensory techniques to ensure concepts “stick” and feel less overwhelming. My sessions are calm, predictable, and reassuring. I provide clear routines, gentle encouragement, and consistent praise to help students stay focused and motivated.
