The 11-plus in Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire has seven state grammar schools: Pate's in Cheltenham; Denmark Road, Ribston Hall, Sir Thomas Rich's and The Crypt in Gloucester; and Marling and Stroud High in Stroud.

They share one entrance test, which the schools run themselves, and families register through the grammar schools' websites. For September 2027 entry the test was on 12 September 2026, at the start of Year 6.

From September 2028 entry the schools use a new test provider, FSCE, and the test moves to the end of Year 5: this year's Year 5 children sit it on Saturday 3 July 2027, and registration is open from 8 February to 19 March 2027. The FSCE test explained

You also need to list the grammar school on your secondary school application to your home council by 31 October: a child won't be offered a place at a school that isn't on the form.
