I have worked for the awarding bodies continuously alongside my school posts — as an examiner and team leader for OCR, AQA and the IB since 2009, as a Pearson BTEC Standards Verifier in Applied Science since 2012, and more recently as a Principal and Chief Examiner and an international qualifications trainer for Pearson Edexcel. Most recently I sat on the senior leadership team of an IB World School in Switzerland, holding the Futures brief, leading the science department and coordinating the Career-related Programme. Before that I spent five years at Guildhouse School in Cambridge and London, teaching science on university foundation programmes and running higher education counselling for an international cohort applying to the UK, Europe and North America. Two threads run through the work: getting assessment right, and getting students to the right destination afterwards. I am now looking for a senior leadership post in a UK school or college where both matter. I hold a PhD from King's College London, work in English, Italian and Greek, and have taught in the UK, Switzerland, Egypt and Cyprus.
