About

I am a fully qualified and experienced secondary school teacher, with a First Class Honours degree in History, as well as a PGCE with subject specialism in History. I also have significant tutoring and teaching experience, specifically for the Edexcel GCSE History specification. My results from previous years of tutoring have been consistently strong with clear improvements to the students' grades, and in my full-time job as a classroom teacher, I have detailed evidence of strong GCSEs grades for my classes; I am pleased to share that this includes very strong results for my 25/26 cohort of 52 students. I am here to help students specifically with improving/securing strong grades at GCSE, developing their confidence with exam skills and content further, and developing their love for the subject. I have experience in teaching a variety of units and papers across the Edexcel History course, and so if you are doing Edexcel History for GCSE, there is a good chance I have taught and can help with the content and exam questions! I have numerous resources and activities which I look forward to sharing with you to boost your confidence and those exam grades! In my full-time job as a teacher, I believe that I should be a facilitator of learning, and not just be lecturing students on what they need to know. This will be translated to our sessions as your tutor, and I will ensure that I am helping you to learn and understand in whichever way that suits you best. Further to teaching full-time and tutoring, I am also currently undertaking and nearing the end of my NPQLT, a nationally recognised qualification focused on developing leadership both within the classroom and within the wider school setting. Within my department, my responsibilities range from curriculum development to supporting the attainment of all students regardless of need or level of challenge. Both in teaching and tutoring, I have been praised consistently for my excellent planning, resources, and questioning. Students enjoy learning in my classes, more often than not due to my passion for the subject, as well as my calm and relaxed demeanour which takes any pressure away from them. I was also observed by a lead OFSTED inspector in September 2023 and his feedback for our department was excellent, and contributed to an overall ‘Good’ school report.
