FSCE (Future Stories Community Enterprise, based at Reading School) provides 11-plus and in-year tests "written by Grammar Schools, for Grammar Schools".
What to know about FSCE
- The test draws on Key Stage 2 content taught up to the end of Year 5, with a mix of text and image-inspired questions.
- FSCE doesn't publish past papers: the content changes every year. Schools that use FSCE provide free familiarisation guides for children and parents.
- FSCE and its schools discourage intensive test preparation.
- In Gloucestershire, the seven grammar schools use FSCE from September 2028 entry. The first test is on Saturday 3 July 2027, for children now in Year 5, with registration open from 8 February to 19 March 2027.

FSCE 11-plus: common questions
Are there FSCE past papers?
No. FSCE doesn't publish past papers because the content changes every year. The schools that use it publish free familiarisation guides for children and parents.
When do Gloucestershire children sit the FSCE test?
The first FSCE test for the Gloucestershire grammar schools is on Saturday 3 July 2027, at the end of Year 5, for entry in September 2028. Registration opens on 8 February and closes on 19 March 2027.
Does my child need a tutor for FSCE?
FSCE and the schools say intensive preparation isn't needed, and the test is based on the Key Stage 2 curriculum. If your child needs help with KS2 English or maths, a qualified teacher can help with that; there are no FSCE past papers to drill.
How much does a 11-plus tutor cost?
Each tutor sets a flat price per hour-long lesson, from £40. You pay per lesson when you book, with no membership or agency fee.
